Introduction
Double-axis hinges are commonly used in various mechanical systems, such as doors, windows, and furniture. The lubrication and friction characteristics of these hinges play a crucial role in their performance and durability. In this study, we aim to investigate the lubrication and friction properties of double-axis hinges under different conditions.
Experimental Setup
1. A double-axis hinge was mounted on a test rig and connected to a load cell to measure the frictional force.
2. The hinge was lubricated with different types of lubricants, including grease, oil, and dry lubricants.
3. The lubrication was applied at different intervals, ranging from no lubrication to frequent lubrication.
4. The hinge was subjected to different loads, ranging from no load to a maximum load of 50 N.
Results and Discussion
5. The frictional force decreased significantly with the use of lubricants, especially with grease and oil.
6. Frequent lubrication led to a further reduction in frictional force, indicating the importance of regular maintenance.
7. The frictional force increased with the increase in load, but the effect of lubrication was more pronounced at higher loads.
Overall, the results demonstrate the importance of proper lubrication in reducing the frictional force and improving the performance of double-axis hinges.
